Deck prices on a fiberglass pool

The same tool prices fiberglass decks by the square foot. A band of broom-finished concrete sized to the pool is included; by the estimator's own formula that works out to about 3 ft on every side. Upgrades are priced per square foot of that included area: exposed aggregate adds $2, spray deck $7 and pavers $30. Extra area costs $12 a square foot in broom concrete, $14 in aggregate, $19 in spray deck and $30 in pavers. Deck drains run $25 a linear foot, and flagstone or travertine coping $40 a foot (Pools of Longview).

A worked example, by our math: a 12x27 fiberglass shell has about 270 sq ft in that 3 ft band. Turning it into pavers adds roughly 270 × $30 = $8,100; spray deck adds about $1,900.

These add up quickly. A spray deck, drainage, a pergola and lighting together come to about $38,600 on top of the pool, by our math. Some families build the pool and deck first and add the pavilion or kitchen a season later; just have the builder run conduit and gas stubs while the yard is open.

Longview ground and the deck

Much of Longview sits on sandy uplands over slow-draining clay, with wet bottoms near the Sabine and its creeks. A deck on that ground needs to shed water away from the pool, which is why drainage is its own line in the estimator. Retaining walls fall under the city's 2026 rule too: a pool must keep a 1:1 depth-to-distance ratio from a wall's footing, as from the house foundation (Longview UDC). Read our soil and water table guide before you fix the layout, and the pool cost guide for the price of the pool itself.

Common questions

How much is a pool deck in Longview?

One local estimator lists $4,800 for exposed aggregate and $6,200 for spray deck on a gunite pool, up to $16,900 for flagstone (Pools of Longview). Size upgrades and drains are extra.

What is a spray deck or cool deck?

A textured coating sprayed over a concrete slab. It stays cooler and less slippery than bare concrete, which helps in a 95-degree Longview August.

Are pavers worth the extra cost?

They cost two to three times as much as aggregate or spray deck locally, but individual pavers can be lifted and reset if the ground settles, which a cracked slab cannot.

Do deck drains matter on a Longview lot?

Often. Clay subsoil and winter water tables keep rain near the surface, and drains move it away from the pool. The local estimator lists a drainage system at $3,400 on gunite jobs.
